Outdoor Wednesday

  • Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies
  • She considereth a field...with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard
My husband and I went on a quick trip to North Carolina this past week to see some of his family, and decided to take a slightly different route than the one we usually take, so we got to see a little of the Appalachian and Great Smoky Mountains.

Part of the trip was spent looking at the scenery through the windshield wipers...

or out the side window...

But some were close enough to stop and take a better look at, like this water fall, literally coming out of the rock beside the road...

or this old shed near Canton, NC...

...or this field nearby.

Some views were from a distance...

or just a little bit away.

While some were up close, and personal, like this twig porch rail...

or this bit of interest on in a yard.

Some sights were humourous...

And some were comforting---like this one of the "big bridge" crossing the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge--which meant we were getting close(er) to home!

We had a good time, saw some sights, spent time with family---and now we're safe and sound back at home, sweet home.

No clutter busting today, just resting and catching my breath, and back to my regular routine tomorrow.

Until next time...

  1. It's prettier with the leaves on the trees. When we went the trees were still bare. I love all those little farm buildings with the tin roofs. It looked just like something out of that show Christy. I tried to imagine what the settlers thought as they crossed over all the mountains and rocks. Whew! Can't imagine tackling that. I'm glad they did!

    1. I think about that a lot when we travel, Jane. We've been to a some places out west that were part of the old Oregon trail, and in the SE where the Cherokee marched the Trail of Tears--it amazes me what people accomplished back in those days, without all of the modern "conveniences" that we have.

  2. Looks like you had a pretty drive, even with the rain. I love NC... it is my favorite place in the U.S. to visit.

    1. It is really pretty there--and not quite as hot as where I live here in southwest Louisiana, even in the middle of summer!
